The Mt Albert Community Playgroup was among a number of local groups and organisations successful in the latest Albert Eden Local Board “quick response” grant round.
The playgroup applied for $3133 for new play toys, rent and co-ordinator’s wages and was granted $2500 towards new play toys only.
Other successful applicants:
Mt Albert Presbyterian Church wanted $5500 to install a noticeboard on its front lawn and paint for an internal hall. It was granted $2500 for the painting only.
Home and Family Counselling sought $4000 towards the costs of providing after-hours counselling for low income families in Albert/Eden. The group was granted $2000.
Pt Chevalier Drama Club wanted $2810 to cover project costs for “Christmas Caroling Chevy Styles (Have a Very Chevy Christmas)”. It was awarded $1460 towards a singing supervisor, costume hire and publicity.
Mt Albert Community Club wanted $2517 towards exhibition space hire, website creation and a laptop for digital artwork and was granted $1120.
Pt Chevalier Drama Club sought $1452 towards the development of the play, Where the Wild Things Are, and “rehearsals, workshopping, circus classes and rehearsals with musician who will help the kids create a soundscape with instruments”. The club was granted the full amount
